Ever been to Outback Steakhouse? Well, they have a type of pasta called "Toowoomba", named after a place in Australia (how fitting, right?) which is really good. In the past few years, the Korean version was floating around and gained a lot of traction in the respective communities. I love ramen, and I love Outback, so I figured I'd give it a shot! All credit goes to these communities.
Ingredients:
- 2 cups milk*
- 2 - 5 cloves of garlic
- 1/2 onion
- 1/3 cup cheddar cheese*
- 2 ramen noodle packs
- 1 flavor packet from the ramen packs
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cayenne pepper
- Oil or butter*
*For any substitutions you may need, click here!
Recipe:
- Chop the onion and garlic however you prefer.
- Boil a pot of water and add the ramen.
- Undercook the ramen by about a minute or two, and remove from the water. Set the ramen aside.
- Add oil or butter into a separate pan, and stir-fry the onion and garlic on high heat, making sure to not burn the garlic.
- Add the milk (or substitute) to the onion and garlic when the onion is transparent and the garlic is golden, but not brown. Turn the heat down to medium heat.
- Sprinkle the flavor packet from the ramen in and add the cheese (or substitute) and mix together.
- Add the ramen and cook for three minutes.
- Remove from the heat, let cool, and you're done!
Notes and things I learned along the way:
If you prefer the noodle consistency thicker like I do, only use one cup of milk instead of two
I am sensitive to spicy things, so I opted for 1/8 teaspoon cayenne. Feel free to add more if you aren't afraid of the spice!
